Are sardines too salty for cats?
No, Only One Treats dried sardines are not too salty for cats!
Because we naturally dry our sardines, we do not add any salt to preserve these fishy treats. They do contain sodium naturally, but not enough to harm cats or dogs when eaten in moderation.
On average, our sardines contain 0.11% (1.7 mg) of sodium per 1.5g sardine.
The AAFCO actually recommends that dry food for dogs contains at least 0.3% sodium. And for cats, it’s 0.2% sodium.
Are sardines safe for cats?
Yes! Sardines cat treats are safe for them to eat. But, owners always know best! If you feel a treat is too large for your cat, you can break them up into smaller pieces. We also encourage all pet owners to supervise their pets whenever they’re eating treats, or gnawing on a chew. Just like humans with food, gum, candy, and chew fidgets – there is always a risk of choking!
